Ganesh - The Remover of ObstaclesThis is one of my absolute favorite pieces for so many reasons. I discovered Ganesh during a writing and art retreat I enjoyed in Bali a couple of years ago. Ganesh is a Hindu God and is considered the remover of obstacles. He is often invoked at the beginning of ceremonies and he can be called upon for assistance to remove obstacles in your life. While I have a measure of relief knowing I have a Hindu God who is willing to help remove my obstacles, I choose to believe that every obstacle in my life is an opportunity waiting for me to learn, to grown, to become the person I am meant to be. I also believe we have the option to frame our obstacles as opportunities, which changes the energy from that of draining and fear to excitement and hopefulness. If you have to deal with a challenge or an obstacle in your life, how would you most like to take it on – with fear and trepidation or excitement and possibility? I prefer to frame it in a hopeful light to give me the best frame of reference for resolution.

If you are a negative nelly and live finding reasons why things don’t work, why not change your frame of reference and take on your next obstacle as an opportunity waiting to happen. See what you can create!

I created this piece on a canvas panel using acrylic paint, paper, ink stamping, alphabet blocks, small crystals. I learned how to create different techniques by taking an online art class from my favorite, inspiring artist, Kellie Rae Roberts. Secret insight – I created texture using a heat gun while wiping away some of the paint.

Each of my original pieces of art had a personal message from me on the back of the canvas.

ganesh at Gold BarI’m excited to announce that through June 30, 2014, my art is offered for sale at Gold Bar Espresso located at 3141 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe, AZ.  Gold Bar Espresso offers one-of-a-kind customer service.  It’s a family owned business who has perfected the art of creating amazing espresso while offering a community to welcome you.  Their baked goods are decadent and are a delightful way to start the day or enjoy a treat in the afternoon.  I’m a huge fan of their evenings of jazz. In addition to displaying at Gold Bar, I am also offering my art online at Etsy. You can see this piece and check out my other art pieces at Etsy.

Carpe Diem!
